MARKET SUMMARY
GIFT Nifty is pointing to a massive gap-up opening of ~242 points — the most bullish pre-market signal in weeks. Falling crude (near $68/bbl), VIX at 3-month lows (12.29), and progress in US-Iran talks are creating a near-perfect setup for bulls. US jobs data softening has also eased rate-hike fears, sending the Dow to a record high.
However, a 240-point gap-up will likely trigger profit-booking from BTST traders — expect a morning dip. The 24,300–24,500 zone is the next resistance; failure to breach could see the index consolidate. Watch the opening price action at the 24,216–24,239 box — if the index sustains above this zone, the rally could extend.

- A futures contract usually trades at a different price than its underlying spot — that difference is the futures premium (or discount when negative)
- For Gift Nifty, the premium reflects the cost of carrying Nifty 50 exposure forward to expiry
- Main drivers: risk-free interest rate minus dividend yield of the underlying basket
- S = Nifty 50 spot
- r = risk-free rate
- d = Nifty 50 dividend yield (~1.2%)
- t = time to expiry in years
- Gift Nifty's USD denomination adds a small USD/INR carry component on top
- Gift Nifty current level − previous Nifty 50 close = implied NSE opening gap
- Previous Nifty 50 close: 23,700
- Current Gift Nifty: 23,790
- Premium: +90 points → suggests NSE 50 opens roughly 80–90 points higher
- Interest rates rising

GIFT NIFTY — FREQUENTLY ASKED
Is SGX Nifty the same as Gift Nifty?
Yes — Gift Nifty is the renamed SGX Nifty. Trading in this Nifty 50 derivative moved from the Singapore Exchange (SGX) to NSE International Exchange in July 2023. The contract and what it signals are unchanged; only the venue and name changed, so "SGX Nifty live" and "Gift Nifty live" now mean the same thing.

Gift Nifty's current level minus the previous Nifty 50 close is the implied opening gap for the NSE Nifty 50. For example, if Gift Nifty trades about 90 points above the previous Nifty 50 close, the Nifty 50 is signalled to open roughly 80–90 points higher. Where is Gift Nifty traded?
Gift Nifty trades on NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) in GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat — India's first International Financial Services Centre. That is why it is called "Gift" Nifty (GIFT = Gujarat International Finance Tec-City).
What are Gift Nifty trading hours?
Gift Nifty trades almost 21 hours a day across two sessions, spanning the Indian morning through to the early hours, which covers US market hours. Because it stays open while the NSE cash market is shut, it keeps moving overnight on global cues.
How does Gift Nifty signal global markets and the day's open?
Because it trades while NSE is closed, Gift Nifty prices in overnight moves in the S&P 500, Nasdaq, US Dollar Index, US 10-year yield, gold and crude oil — making it the first read on how Indian markets may open. Traders watch it as the live pre-market cue for the Nifty 50.
What is the Gift Nifty premium over Nifty 50?
The premium is the gap between Gift Nifty and the Nifty 50 spot, set mainly by the risk-free interest rate minus the index's dividend yield (cost of carry), plus a small USD/INR component since Gift Nifty is USD-denominated. It narrows toward zero as a contract nears expiry.
